What to expect

Just east of Kanab, Inchworm Arch is a short and rewarding desert hike that delivers big scenery with minimal effort. Located within Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument, the walk to the arch is less than half a mile round trip, following a sandy path into a quiet wash where the uniquely shaped sandstone formation sits. The drive in along Johnson Canyon Road is part of the adventure, typically requiring high clearance and offering sweeping red rock views along the way. With wide-open desert landscapes, peaceful surroundings, and incredible photo opportunities—especially at sunrise or sunset—Inchworm Arch makes for an easy, off-the-beaten-path addition to any Southern Utah adventure.
